Darren transitioned into professional recruiting after a successful basketball career. Under the mentorship of Echo co-founder Amit Bhatia, Darren began in finance and accounting permanent placement working with public and private companies across all industries and roles. Darren found he truly enjoyed matching people with opportunities, assisting clients with their next great employee and guiding candidates in making their best possible career moves. 

Darren appreciates the people-first approach that Echo Search Group lives by and is proud to co-lead its Business Operations group with teammate Calvin Fisher.  He is a relationship person that is highly dedicated, loyal and communicative. Darren truly enjoys listening and learning about a client and a candidate, and believes placements are always more successful when the process is about diving deep to understand, putting others’ interests first and connecting like minds.

Darren sees that his experience as captain of Kansas State and then as professional basketball player living in Europe really prepared him to be successful in fostering relationships with clients and candidates. Communicating with a diverse range of people from many different backgrounds and building connections with teammates, local business leaders and the greater community was a great foundation for the variety of people, roles and companies with whom Darren would work in professional talent acquisition. 

When he is not working, Darren loves spending time with his family at their summer cabin or on vacation. He has three nieces and nephews who are a major part of his life, and loves spending as much time as possible with them. A big outdoor and sports enthusiast, Darren is an avid hunter/fisherman, golfer, and aficionado of all major college and professional sports.
