Resignation Letter

October 7, 2021

Resigning from a position can be one of the most nerve-racking discussions a person goes through in their professional career.  For most, it isn’t something that comes easy and that is okay.  When resigning it is important to have a conversation, in person is recommended with your direct reporting hierarchy, but often times a written letter needs to follow.  Below is simply a template to follow as a sample resignation letter to be utilized after verbal resignation.

To whom it may concern:

It is with extremely high regard for COMPANY that I will be putting in my resignation with COMPANY effective today.  I plan to work with leadership to ensure a successful transition of my responsibilities, and as such will provide a (NUMBER OF WEEKS OR DAYS) notice with my last day of employment being (XX,XX, 2021).

I am very grateful for the relationships developed, and skills gained during my employment with (COMPANY).  I will always look back favorably on my experiences and accomplishments.  With that, I am very excited about this next step in my career and wish (COMPANY) nothing but continued success in the future.

I plan to end my responsibilities with (COMPANY) on a high note and will work to ensure the best possible transition possible.  Thank you for your understanding and support as we work towards my last day of employment, (DATE).

Best Regards,
