Resigning from a position can be one of the most nerve-racking discussions a person goes through in their professional career. For most, it isn’t something that comes easy and that is okay. When resigning it is important to have a conversation, in person is recommended with your direct reporting hierarchy, but often times a written letter needs to follow. Below is simply a template to follow as a sample resignation letter to be utilized after verbal resignation.
To whom it may concern:
It is with extremely high regard for COMPANY that I will be putting in my resignation with COMPANY effective today. I plan to work with leadership to ensure a successful transition of my responsibilities, and as such will provide a (NUMBER OF WEEKS OR DAYS) notice with my last day of employment being (XX,XX, 2021).
I am very grateful for the relationships developed, and skills gained during my employment with (COMPANY). I will always look back favorably on my experiences and accomplishments. With that, I am very excited about this next step in my career and wish (COMPANY) nothing but continued success in the future.
I plan to end my responsibilities with (COMPANY) on a high note and will work to ensure the best possible transition possible. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work towards my last day of employment, (DATE).
